Laoban’s offspring have performed extremely well in the first 12 days of December, accounting for a stakes victory and four maiden wins to date, the latest coming Saturday at Aqueduct when Bowing Snowman emerged from the fog to win a six-furlong affair by 2 1/2-lengths.
Shrouded from view for most of the race, Bowing Snowman came into view in upper stretch, when he was pulling away from the competition, and held sway to the wire.
The bay colt is owned by D. J. Stable LLC and Jonathan Green and was bred by McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds LLC. He is from the same family as Arlington Million (G1) winner Golden Pheasant.
Laoban, who is new to WinStar Farm for 2021 at $25,000 S&N, is currently second on the 2020 First-Crop sire list with progeny earnings over $1.5 million. He is tied for the top spot by both graded stakes winners and stakes winners.
