Land Over Sea draws rail for Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1)

Bellamy Road’s multiple Grade 1-placed 2-year-old Land Over Sea drew post 1 for the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) Saturday at Keeneland as she attempts to become the first Breeder’s Cup winner for sire.

In four races, Land Over Sea’s speed figures have improved each time. Following a second place finish in her debut on July 12, the chestnut filly was a dominating 3 ¾-length maiden special weight winner over the Del Mar turf on July 29.

The Doug O’Neill trainee jumped right into Grade 1 company afterward, finishing third in the Del Mar Debutante and then second in the Chandelier S. at Santa Anita a month ago. Her record stands at 1-2-1 with $148,000 in earnings for Reddam Racing.

Land Over Sea was a $130,000 purchase at this year’s OBS April 2-year-olds sale.

Land Over Sea will be ridden by Mario Gutierrez, who has been aboard for all of the filly’s starts. The race is the first Breeders’ Cup race on Saturday’s card with an approximate post time of 12:05 p.m. ET.
