Island Commish, who broke his maiden by nearly 10 lengths on the main track, chalked up his first turf win on Oct. 17 with a 2 1/2-length score at Gulfstream Park West.
The 2-year-old Commissioner colt, who placed on the grassy Proud Man S. on Aug. 31 at Gulfstream, is one of his sire’s ten first-crop winners and his second repeat winner. Commissioner has four stakes horses to date this year, led by stakes winner Two Last Words and Grade 2-placed Powerfulattraction.
Island Commish was tucked in third along the fence for the first five furlongs before swinging three-wide into the stretch. He rolled by the pacesetters and won going away.
The winner is owned by Shooting Star Thoroughbreds and was bred by Julia Rice. The dark bay’s dam Bide a Wee Island is a half-sister to millionaire Something Extra.
