Island Commish, a stakes-placed son of Commissioner, scored his second straight win on the Gulfstream Park West turf course on Nov. 20, coming home a 5 1/2-length winner in the 7 1/2-furlong contest for 2-year-olds.
The dark bay has three wins in his five starts, as well as placing in the $105,000 Proud Man S. He is one of Commissioner’s five stakes horses and 12 winners to date from his sire’s first crop.
After sitting in second for the first five furlongs, Island Commish rocketed away from the field at the top of the stretch to win geared down under Paco Lopez.
Owned by Matthew Schera and bred by Julia Rice, Island Commish is out of Bide a Wee Island, whose siblings include multiple Grade 2 winner Something Extra and black type winner Ciuri.
