A grade one winning two-year-old and a classic trial winning three-year-old, Timberlake is by Into Mischief from a classic family.
The Into Mischief cross with mares from the Gone West branch of Mr. Prospector has been an extremely successful one. Among these, the cross with Mr. Greeley, supplied Kentucky Derby (G1) and Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) winner Authentic; the cross with Speightstown mares is a multiple grade one producing one; and there are graded winners out of mares by Grand Slam and Elusive Quality (notably sire of Quality Road), and stakes winners out of mares by Proud Citizen.
Into Mischief has sired ten stakes winners, including grade one scorers Life Is Good and Practical Joke out of mares by Mr. Prospector line stallion Distorted Humor, sire of such as Maclean’s Music and Jimmy Creed.
The cross with mares from the Fappiano branch of Mr. Prospector has done well, including Champion Covfefe out of a mare by Unbridled, and from that same line a Kentucky Derby (G1) winner out of a mare by Empire Maker (sire of Pioneerof the Nile and grandsire of American Pharoah, Cairo Prince and Classic Empire) and a grade one winner out of a mare by Unbridled’s Song. There is also a grade one winner from a mare by Fappiano son, Quiet American. From the Cryptoclearance branch there is an emerging cross with mares by Candy Ride.
Timberlake is out of a mare by Lookin At Lucky from the Smart Strike branch of Mr. Prospector, but crossing back over that line through Curlin might work well.
From the Northern Dancer line, we might look to the successful cross of mares from the Danzig line, available through such as Hard Spun and War Front, and the cross with mares by Medaglia d’Oro and sons Violence and Warrior’s Reward.
There is an Into Mischief grade one winner out of an A.P. Indy mare, a grade one winner out of a mare by Majestic Warrior, graded stakes winners out of mares by A.P. Indy sons Bernardini, Malibu Moon, Pulpit, Mineshaft, Congrats (brother to Flatter) and four stakes winners, one grade one out of mares by A.P. Indy grandson, Tapit.
The Into Mischief line cross with Tiznow line mares has a multiple graded winner out of a mare by Tiznow, a Champion Two-Year-Old Filly out of a mare by Tiz Wonderful and a Kentucky Derby (G1) winner out of a mare by Colonel John.
