Harlan’s Holiday gets 14th SW of 2013

Harlan’s Holiday, a Top 10 General Sire and Juvenile Sire in 2013, received his 14th stakes winner of the season when his filly Ski Holiday won the $78,000 Mrs. Penny S. at Parx on Sept. 7.

Trained by Jonathan Sheppard for owner and breeder Augustin Stable, the 4-year-old bay filly unleashed an impressive rally in the stretch of the 1 1/16-mile turf event, proving best at the wire. Last year as a 3-year-old, Ski Holiday placed in the Virginia Oaks (G3). Her win Saturday makes her a stakes winner, and moves her career earnings to $143,594.

Just a week earlier, Harlan’s Holiday sired his 13th stakes winner of the year and 11th career Group/Grade 1 performer, when 2-year-old Hakeem won the $117,768 Karayel (G1) in Ankara, Turkey. Sold at the 2011 Keeneland November Sale, Hakeem is out of the Graded SW/multiple Graded SPR Michigan Bluff, by Skywalker.
