Harlan’s Holiday filly romps in Iowa Oaks

Someplace Else took off in the lane and galloped home to a 5 1/4-length victory in the $75,000 Iowa Breeders’ Oaks at Prairie Meadows Racetrack on Aug. 6. The 3-year-old daughter of Harlan’s Holiday became her sire’s 25th career stakes winner, 10th 2011 stakes winner with the impressive performance.

Sent off the 4-5 favorite, Someplace Else attended the pace set by Ginger Added for the first six furlongs, then she let out as her momentum carried her wide into the stretch. She quickly pulled away to get the 1 mile and 70 yards in 1:43.28.

Owned and bred by Prairie Lane Farms LLC, Someplace Else has compiled a record of 8-4-4-0 and $157,688, with four wins and two seconds in six starts this season. The Iowa-bred filly is out of Superfine City, a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Friendly Michelle.

Harlan’s Holiday ranks co-third among all North American stallions by stakes winners and stakes victories this year.
