Harlan’s Holiday filly gets 2nd career SW

Someplace Else scored a handy 1 1/2-length win in the $93,925 Donna Reed S. at Prairie Meadows Saturday night to give the 4-year-old daughter of Harlan’s Holiday her second black type victory of her career.

Harlan’s Holiday has eight stakes winners in 2012, and has been especially successful with 2-year-olds, He ranks fourth on the juvenile sire list with $369,690 in earnings, highlighted by the stakes winners Shanghai Bobby and American Sugar.

Bred in Iowa by her owner Prairie Lane Farms, Someplace Else battled between horses for the first half-mile before taking over on the far turn. Terry Thompson kept his mount to the task in the stretch to finish the 1 mile and 70 yards 1:42.11.

A remarkably consistent racehorse, Someplace Else is now 6-8-0 in 16 lifetime outings, with earnings of $312,172. Her previous stakes win came in last year’s Iowa Breeders’ Oaks, also at Prairie Meadows.
