Harlan’s Holiday colts top OBS Day 1

WinStar Farm stallion Harlan’s Holiday had two of the top five priced horses sold at the first day of the OBS April Select 2-year-old sale, including the highest figure colt at $285,000. The central Florida sale runs from April 23-26.

The top colt, cataloged as hip No. 50 and consigned by Ciaran Dunne’s Wavertree sales agency, sold to Virginia-based agent Debbie Easter on behalf of Jon and Sarah Kelly. The dark bay or brown colt is out of the unraced Indian Charlie mare West Indian and is a half-brother to stakes winner Golden Dreamer and to stakes-placed Western Flyer. The colt breezed a strong 1/8-mile in 10 seconds flat at the pre-sale under tack show (VIDEO).

Hip No. 267, a bay colt consigned by Hopple’s Horse and Cattle Co., as agent, went for $220,000 to Jim and Susan Hill. The juvenile is a half-brother to two winners out of the unraced Kris S. mare Cita My Dear, who is out of the multiple stakes winner Sophie My Love.
