Good Samaritan was represented by his second winner from his first crop on Friday at Churchill Downs when the filly Holiday Decision scored a front-running victory in a $110,605 maiden special weight race for 2-year-olds (WATCH RACE).
The flashy chestnut sped to the lead right at the break and led the field around the turn as she raced well off the rail. After briefly relinquishing the lead at the top of the stretch, she rallied strongly to win by 1 ½-lengths in :48.47 for the five furlongs on the fast main track.
Holiday Decision earned $69,460 for owner H. Jack Hendricks.
Holiday Decision was bred in Kentucky by Jim and Pam Robinson’s Brandywine Farm and sold to her owner for $105,000 at the 2021 Keeneland September sale.
Good Samaritan, a son of the late WinStar stallion Harlan’s Holiday, won graded stakes on both dirt and turf and earned over $1.3 million across three seasons. His advertised fee for 2022 is $7,500.
