Global Legend first winner for Global Campaign

Global Legend at Gulfstream Park.

WinStar Farm’s first-crop stallion Global Campaign, a Grade 1-winning son of Curlin, sired his first winner when Global Legend made an auspicious career debut on Saturday, winning a $55,000 maiden special weight at Gulfstream Park.

Owned by K E M Racing Stable and trained by Mark Casse, Global Legend broke sharply and shot to the lead at the break of the 4 ½-furlong event. Ridden by Miguel Vasquez, Global Legend was never headed and drew away impressively late to score clear by three lengths in 53.37.

An $80,000 yearling purchase at the 2023 OBS Winter Mixed Sale, Global Legend is produced from the winning Henny Hughes mare Im a Dixie Diva, a half-sister to multiple Grade 1 winner Mor Spirit. The dark bay or brown colt was bred in Florida by Dominique Damico.

A Grade 1 winner by two-time Horse of the Year Curlin, Global Campaign won from seven furlongs to 1 ¼ miles, including a front-running score in the historic Woodward H. (G1) at four just like his esteemed sire. Global Campaign recorded a 104 Beyer in the Woodward, and the win marked his second straight graded stakes score after annexing the Monmouth Cup S. (G3) with a 101 Beyer in his previous outing. All told, Global Campaign, who also captured the Peter Pan S. (G3) at three and placed in the 2020 Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) with a career-best 106 Beyer, won six of 10 starts and bankrolled $1,321,080 for partners Sagamore Farm and WinStar Farm and trainer Stanley Hough.

A complete outcross in his first four generations, Global Campaign is produced from the late A.P. Indy mare and spectacular producer Globe Trot, who is the dam of only three foals, all stakes winners, including Grade 1 winner and leading sire Bolt d’Oro, and multiple stakes winner and multiple graded stakes-placed Sonic Mule.

Global Campaign has been represented by first 2-year-olds in the auction ring up to $650,000, $350,000, and $250,000 this season. The $650,000 colt, now named Tharhom, was bought by Pedro Lanz, agent for KAS Stables, from the consignment of Eddie Woods at this year’s OBS Spring Sale in April. Global Campaign stands for $12,500 S&N.
