Ginger N Rye was in sixth for the first half-mile of the 5 1/2-furlong contest, then flew through the stretch with an incredible move, winning by 1 3/4-lengths in 1:00.75, just a fifth of a second off the track record.
The Sagamore Farm homebred upped her earnings to $294,973 and is 5-6-0 in her 16 starts. Ginger N Rye’s dam La Milanesa is a sister to millionaire Grade 2 winner Bowman’s Band.
Ginger N Rye is More Than Ready’s eighth North American stakes winner this year. His runners have now earned more than $4 million in 2017.
