Top-three First-Crop sire Exaggerator’s winners’ total increased to 11 on Friday at Keeneland when the filly Color of Dawn tallied a 1 3/4-length maiden special weight win.
Color of Dawn was away from the gate very quickly and headed Trouble Making to take the lead. She led the field through a half-mile in :48.12, then fended off a mid-stretch challenge by Latte Dolce to draw away in the final furlong to get the six panels in 1:12.14.
The winner is owned by Right Time Racing III, LLC and Full of Run Racing LLC, who purchased the 2-year-old filly for $80,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Sale in June.
Color of Dawn was bred by Fred Hertirch III and Robert Tribbett.
After breeding more than 100 mares for the fourth consecutive year in 2020, Exaggerator will stand the 2021 season for $15,000 S&N.
