Filly by Pure Prize sets NCR in stakes win

Multiple stakes winner Dreamin Big ran big once again, setting a new course record in winning the $89,500 Florence Henderson S. by 8 1/2 lengths  on July 17th at Indiana Downs.

With the dominating, record-breaking victory, Dreamin Big became the 11th stakes winner of 2013 for WinStar stallion Pure Prize.

A 5-year-old dark bay, Dreamin Big won the Florence Henderson for the second straight year. Content to race in mid-pack along the rail for three quarters, Dreamin Big charged up and took command on the turn, then strode further clear with each stride as she streaked toward the wire. Dreamin Big stopped the teletimer in 1:39.70, nearly a full second faster than the previous course record.

Dreamin Big was bred by Michael and Penny Lauer, and races in the name of Penny Lauer. She has won or placed in nine stakes and amassed earnings of $445,296, off an ultra-consistent record of 21-9-8-1. The versatile filly also set a New Track Record of :57.20 at Hoosier Downs as a 2-year-old, for 5 furlongs on the dirt

Pure Prize has now sired 51 stakes winners worldwide. The son of Storm Cat out of Heavenly Prize stood the 2013 season at WinStar for $7,500 live foal.
