Mercantile went head-to-head with I’m Busy to break his maiden by a neck on Nov. 16 at Remington Park to give top-10 First-Crop sire Fed Biz his tenth winner this year.
Mercantile, who was a $130,000 purchase at this year’s OBS Spring 2-year-old sale, narrowly trailed I’m Busy until mid-stretch, when he assumed a lead he wouldn’t relinquish. The final time for the six furlongs was 1:11.39 (VIDEO).
The winner was bred by Town & Country Horse Farms LLC and is the second foal out of Barretts Debutante S. winner Bares Tipper.
Fed Biz’s ten winners include four stakes horses. One of the most popular stallions to come on the market in recent times, Fed Biz has bred an average of 148 mares in his first four seasons. He’s available at WinStar Farm in 2019 for $10,000 stands and nurses.
