Speightstown’s son Fast Bullet emulated his sire, speeding gate to wire to win the $400,000 True North H. (G2) on the Belmont Stakes undercard June 8th.
In winning the same prestigious sprint stakes as his father did his championship season, Fast Bullet served notice to America’s top sprinters, that there’s a new speed king to fear.
Out of the gate like a shot, Fast Bullet set fast fractions of :22.48, :45.16, and :56.16, hitting the wire in 1:08.27 to take the first stakes of his career. Fast Bullet has now compiled a record of 5-4-1-0 and earnings of $327,000 for owner Zayat Stables and trainer Bob Baffert.
Speightstown also sired a Listed stakes winner on Saturday, Richlyn Stables’ Lighthouse Bay, winner of the $75,000 Jostle S. at Parx Racing, and a stakes horse on Friday at Belmont, Big Screen, second in the Jaipur S. Speightstown now has 16 stakes horses, eight stakes winners this season, seven in the past eight days. From just five crops to race, the WinStar stallion has sired 45 stakes winners, 19 Graded stakes winners, and earners of $39 million. He ranks 2nd among all Kentucky sires for 2013.
