Director’s Cut came on again in deep stretch to get her first career victory Thursday in a one-mile maiden special weight race for 2-year-old fillies at Gulfstream Park.
She is the third winner for Exaggerator, who, along with fellow WinStar freshman sire, is one of only four First-Crop sires with three winners to date.
Director’s Cut sat in the pocket just behind pacesetter Race Day Speed for the first five furlongs, then swung three-wide to make her move for the lead. Sleek Lynx went by her on the outside and looked like a winner in mid-stretch, but Director’s Cut rallied to win by a half-length under Edgar Prado.
The winner was bred by WinStar Farm, who co-owns the bay filly with Blazing Meadows Farm. Out of the Dynaformer mare Dynamazed, Director’s Cut is from the family of graded stakes winner and noted sire General Meeting.
