Gagetown surged through an opening in mid-stretch to register a two-length maiden special weight win in his debut Friday at Churchill Downs (VIDEO)
The 2-year-old son of Exaggerator is the 13th overall first-crop winner for his Top-five sire.
Gagetown was in a good spot in fifth in the early stages, but as he advanced towards the front nearing the quarter pole, he had to check hard behind horses. When an opening appeared soon after, he shot between horses to seize command, finishing the six furlongs in 1:10.33 on a fast track.
The winner, who sold for $170,000 as a weanling at the 2018 Keeneland November sale, is owned by Rupp Racing. He was bred by SF Bloodstock and is a half-brother to Mother Goose S. (G1) winner Include Betty.
