Enstone, a 3-year-old Tiznow filly, scored the first stakes win of her career in Sunday’s $125,000 Fury S. at Woodbine in her 2017 debut.
Sent off the 8-5 favorite, the Mark Casse trainee broke very alertly but settled back off the speedy Goldrush Glory, who was very keen. Enstone kept the leader in her sights until the top of the stretch, when she swept to the lead and powered clear of the field, winning in very sharp fashion in 1:23.31 over the synthetic surface.
“This filly, she has a very high cruising speed,” said winning rider Patrick Husbands. “In all my years of experience, you don’t want to disappoint a filly like that. She’s a router and she’s aggressive.”
“It looks like she only wants to go longer,” added assistant trainer Kathryn Sullivan. “She ran a great race today and Patrick rode a great race. Hopefully, she comes out of the race well and we’ll just keep going.”
Enstone stamped herself as a solid contender for the 1 1/8-mile $500,000 Woodbine Oaks, on June 11 at Woodbine. She is now 2-3-0 in seven starts and has earned $152,416 for her owner East West Stables.
Canadian-bred Enstone is closely related to champion and Hall of Famer Silverbulletday, as well as Grade 1 winner Forest Secrets, who is a half-sister to Enstone’s dam La Suena.
