Drosselmeyer filly debuts a 6 ½-length winner

Heartbreaker Girl made short work of a field of 2-year-old fillies as the daughter of first-crop sire Drosselmeyer sauntered to an easy maiden win in her debut July 23 at Gulfstream Park.

She is the second winner for her sire, whose 2-year-olds have also been very well-received at auction this year, bringing up to $425,000. Drosselmeyer and A.P. Indy are the only Belmont S. and Breeders’ Cup Classic winners in history. He stood the 2015 season for $15,000 S&N.

After an early duel, Heartbreaker Girl shook clear with a quarter mile to run and won in hand, covering the five furlongs in a spritely :58 4/5.

Heartbreaker Girl is out of the multiple stakes-placed mare Darnestown and is a half-sister to Maryland Juvenile Championship S. winner Peace Town.
