Drosselmeyer, Belmont S. & Breeders’ Cup Classic winner, sires first winner

WinStar Farm’s freshman sire Drosselmeyer, the Belmont S. (G1) and Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) winner by Distorted Humor, was represented by his first winner Thursday when 2-year-old filly Find Joy debuted with an impressive 4 ½-length victory in a $40,000 Maiden Special Weight at Pimlico.

Find Joy stopped the clock in 53.22 seconds for the 4 ½-furlong heat over a fast local main track. She is trained by Cathal Lynch for Daniela Lynch, who purchased the Kentucky-bred at this April’s OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in training. Bred by Eico Stable, the bay filly is out of the Southern Halo mare Hurricane Hannah, a half-sister to Go for Wand H. (G2) winner Lovely Lil.

Drosselmeyer, who raced in WinStar’s colors, is one of only seven horses to win a Triple Crown race and the Breeders’ Cup Classic, and joined A.P. Indy as the only Belmont S. and Breeders’ Cup Classic winners in history. Drosselmeyer is also the leading money winner of all time by leading sire Distorted Humor. He is standing the 2015 season for $15,000 S&N.
