Distorted Humor SW sets track record

Fire with Fire proved too much for his competition Sunday at Santa Rosa, rolling to a front-running, track record-setting performance in the $50,000 Joseph T. Grace S. The 5-year-old by Distorted Humor got the 1 1/16 on the turf in a track record 1:40.67.

With seven stakes winners, led by Grade 1 Man o’ War S. champ Boisterous, Distorted Humor’s progeny have earned nearly $4 million in 2013.

Fire with Fire, owned by David Heerensperger and trained by Neil Drysdale, got away in good order and had a two length lead after six furlongs in 1:11.35. The gray gelding left his foes with too much to do in the stretch as he sprinted home full of run to set the course mark.

Fire with Fire has now earned $268,344 in his 23 starts. Bred in Kentucky by Patricia Pavlish, Fire with Fire is a half-brother to multiple Grade 3 winner and millionaire Cosmonaut. WinStar sold Fire with Fire for $290,000 as a yearling at the 2009 Keeneland September sale.
