Distorted Humor’s 4-year-old filly Ebaiyra is now a three-time Group stakes winner after taking the Prix Allez France Longines (G3) on May 2 at Longchamp Racecourse in France WATCH RACE.
Away for the winter following a third-place effort in a Group 1 in October, Ebaiyra returned with a sharp effort in this 10-furlong turf marathon. She took up a spot in third along the rail for the first mile, then switched to the three-path coming into the straight and ran down Raabihah in the final strides to win by a neck.
“I think she has improved quite a lot from three to four, being stronger and much better balanced,” said trainer Alain de Royer Dupre. “I was not sure if the trip would not be too short, but she handled it beautifully. She was fresh and keen early, but she quickened nicely and found what was needed to win.”
Dupre said Ebaiyra could come to the U.S. for her next start.
“We had in mind to go for a Grade II in New York, but I don’t know if we can travel there. The [May 26 G2] Prix Corrida [at Saint-Cloud] is a possibility. We will have options anyway and I think that this season she is ready to win a Group 1.”
Owned by her breeder the Aga Khan, Ebaiyra is 3-2-1 in seven starts and is a half-sister to Jockey Club Oaks Inv. winner Edisa.
Distorted Humor’s stakes horses this year include Santa Anita Oaks (G1) winner Soothsay, who became her sire’s 20th lifetime Grade 1 winner with that victory.
