Implementation powered through the Gulfstream Park stretch to win Saturday’s $165,000 Army Mule S. by a widening 2 ½-lengths in the first stakes victory for the 6-year-old son of Constitution.
The veteran bay had been knocking on the black-type door after finishing a good second in the Fred Hooper S. (G3) Jan. 25 over the same track. In Saturday’s one-mile race, he sat well back of a swift early pace that went in :22.42 and :44.70. Midway on the turn, he began his march to the front by going four-wide coming into the stretch. He quickly engulfed the pacesetters and pulled away with authority to finish the seven furlongs in 1:22.48 on a fast track.
“He got a very good trip,” trainer Saffie Joseph, Jr. said. “He was inside and then he was able to get him out. Manny (Franco) rode him great and he got the right pace to run into.”
Owned by Ken Ramsey, Implemetation is 7-3-5 in 25 starts and has earned $549,651. He was bred by Sheikh Abdullah Al Maddah.
Constitution is in the top six on this year’s General Sire list with nearly $3 million in progeny earnings. Among his six stakes winners in 2025 are leading handicap horse Mindframe and Kentucky Derby (G1) prospect John Hancock.
