Constitution’s Aspenite victorious in Kentucky Downs Juvenile Stakes

Constitution’s 2-year-old colt Aspenite broke his maiden in fine style, taking down top prize in the
$500,000 Kentucky Downs Juvenile Mile Stakes at Kentucky Downs on Sunday, Sept. 10 for trainer Steve
Asmussen.
Owned by Winchell Thoroughbreds, Aspenite showed good early foot to set the pace in the one-mile
turf test. After fast splits of :22.59, :45.29, and six furlongs in 1:10.64, Aspenite kicked clear by 4 ½
lengths in the lane and proved uncatchable, winning by a comfortable 3 ¼ lengths in the end.
The $294,150 winner’s share of the lucrative Kentucky Downs Juvenile Mile Stakes purse raised
Aspenite’s bankroll to $350,450 in just three starts. He was runner-up in an allowance at Kentucky
Downs in his previous outing and finished fourth in a Saratoga maiden special weight in his career debut
in August.
Bred in Kentucky by Glen Hill Farm, Aspenite is produced from the Candy Ride (ARG) mare Aspening. The
dark bay or brown colt was acquired by Winchell Thoroughbreds for $375,000 at the 2022 Keeneland
September Sale where he was consigned by his breeder.
