Alexandra turned in another dominating performance in Saturday’s $100,000 John Galbreath S. at Mahoning Valley, drawing off to a 6 3/4-length victory in the 1 1/16-mile contest for 2-year-old fillies.
Alexandra is one of Constitution’s 15 stakes horses this year, which leads all Second-Crop sires. His leading 3-year-old, Belmont S. (G1) winner Tiz the Law, will make his next start in Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) in his bid to be considered for Horse of the Year honors.
Alexandra, who had a pair of stakes wins in Ohio over the summer, was much the best in what was her first two-turn start on Saturday. She tracked Shez Shacked Up through six furlongs, then willing took the lead at the top of the stretch before drawing clear over the muddy going.
The winner was bred by Blazing Meadows Farm and WinStar Farm, who own the chestnut filly with Michael Lewis.
