Compelling Smile became the third winner for Constitution on Sunday, using a dynamic finishing kick to rally from far back to win a five-furlong maiden special weight by 1 ½-lengths at Emerald Downs (VIDEO).
Far back from the front for the first half-mile or so, Compelling Smile split horses in mid-stretch and was in full flight in the final furlong, rolling past post-time favorite Show Me the Mints to win going away in :59.33 on the fast main track.
The winner is owned by Mark DeDomenico LLC and was bred in Kentucky by Rose Hill Farm & TNIP LLC. She is the first foal out of Mia and Molly and is from the same family as Grade 1 winner Indy Five Hundred and multiple graded winner Delta Princess.
Constitution, who got his second winner on Friday at Churchill Downs, is ranked second on the First-Crop Sire list. His first winner, Aurelia Garland, was named a TDN Rising Star after her debut win at Belmont Park.
