Polly’s Brother became Commissioner’s fifth winner on Sunday at Prairie Meadows with a one-length maiden special weight tally in five-furlong contest for 2-year-olds (VIDEO).
All five of Commissioner’s winners have come in maiden special weights, with Polly’s Brother moving the WinStar stallion into the top-10 on the 2019 First-Crop Sire list.
Making his debut from post 2, Polly’s Brother avoided trouble when the horse to his inside threw his rider at the break. Forcing the issue from that point, the winner was never headed after the first furlong.
Bred by Scott Pierce and owned by his trainer Timothy Martin in partnership with Tom Lepic, Polly’s Brother is named with a nod to his stakes-winning sister Here Comes Polly.
Commissioner also got his first stakes-placed horse on Sunday when the filly Viv closed from far back to finish third in the $100,000 Texas Thoroughbred Futurity at Lone Star Park.
