Chi Chi broke her maiden with a driving finish in Sunday’s E. L. Gaylord Memorial S. at Remington Park to become the first stakes winner for Audible [WATCH RACE].
With stellar results all through the month of September, Audible has risen to sixth on the First-Crop Sire list. He now has total of nine winners, four stakes horses, and progeny earnings approaching $700,000.
Chi Chi had contested a pair of five-furlong maiden turf races at Del Mar prior to shipping to Oklahoma. Switching to the main track and stretching out to 6 ½-furlongs, Chi Chi sat patiently in third before launching her bid with a quarter-mile to run. She was headed by Curlin’s Magic in upper stretch, but fought back gamely to win by 1 ¼-lengths.
The winner is owned by Ernest C. Frohboese and was bred by Frances Weiner. Out of Simply Confection, Chi Chi is a half-sister to Fountain of Youth S. (G2) winner Simplification.
