Thissmytime’s crushing victory in Sunday’s Millions Filly and Mare Turf Preview S. at Gulfstream Park not only marked the first stakes win for the 3-year-old daughter of Carpe Diem, but also was track record- setting performance as she covered the seven furlongs in 1:21.40.
After heavy rains forced the race from the turf to the main track, Thissmytime drew in from post 16 to the field that was reduced to nine. Thissmytime sat in second until assuming command after three furlongs. She quickly opened up by three lengths and was five in front after six panels in 1:08.72. She rolled through the final furlong to win by 11 3/4-lengths over the sloppy going.
The winner had finished second in the Sheer Drama S. on Sept. 6 and is now 3-1-2 in eight starts and has earned $118,902 for Windylea Farm. Bred by Katherine Devall, Thissmytime is out of the prolific producer Seraphic Too, also the dam of graded winner Speed Seeker and seven-time stakes winner Evelyn’s Dancer.
Carpe Diem has accounted for six horses this year, his second crop of runners, and is a top-10 Second-Crop sire by winners, with 62 to date. He is standing in 2021 for $7,500 S&N.
