Scolding powered her way to a six-length maiden special weight debut win Saturday at Oaklawn Park, earning the 3-year-old Carpe Diem filly a “TDN Rising Star” tag (VIDEO).
The chestnut filly is the 15th winner this year for her sire, who is in the top five in several categories on the Second-Crop sire list. Scolding was his most-expensive juvenile at auction last year, selling to owner Phoenix Thoroughbreds for $475,000 at the OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training.
Scolding dueled with She’s the Boss through a half-mile before taking command without being asked, then drew off under a hand ride to get the six furlongs in 1:10.02.
Scolding was bred in Kentucky by AR Enterprises, LLC. Her dam Rebuke is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Summer Cruise.
