A Thousand Dreams stretched out to a mile on the turf after a pair of dirt sprints and came away a convincing winner in a one-mile maiden special weight Saturday at Del Mar.
The 2-year-old Carpe Diem filly is the third winner for her top-10 First-Crop sire, following Saratoga maiden special winner Sweet Kisses and Nayibeth, whose dynamic maiden-breaking win at Keeneland earned the filly a TDN Rising Star nod.
A Thousand Dreams was always prominent on Saturday, pressing just outside of French Rose until she took command just before entering the stretch. Traveling smoothly in the lane, she bested Antigone by 1 1/4-lengths for the win.
Originally a $110,000 Keeneland yearling, A Thousand Dreams is owned by Steven Keh, Scott Knight and Barry Rubin. She was bred by Brinker Hill Farm and is the second foal out of Mellennia, winner of the TaWee S. and a half-sister to millionaire and multiple graded winner Fatal Bullet.
