Top-10 First-Crop sire Carpe Diem tallied winner number 11 and his second stakes horse in recent days, with Seize the Chance getting her debut win on Oct. 17 and Harris Bay placing in the $250,000 Sleepy Hollow S. Saturday at Belmont Park.
Seize the Chance, owned by Stuart Tsujimoto, broke her maiden by nearly two lengths going a mile at Golden Gate Fields. The 2-year-old filly was bred by Lawrence Opas, Frank Sinatra and John Jain. She is the first foal out of the stakes winner Legacy.
WinStar-bred Harris Bay turned in a solid performance in the Oct. 19 Sleepy Hollow at one mile on the main track. The chestnut juvenile won his Sept. 15 debut at Belmont. He is owned by Nedlaw Stable and is from the family of Grade 1 winners You and I as well as Chaposa Springs.
WinStar recently announced that multiple Grade 1 winner Carpe Diem will stand the 2020 season for $15,000 live foal stands and nurses.
