Laoban, who is the leading First-Crop sire of black type winners, got his latest maiden winner in dramatic fashion on Dec. 4 at Aqueduct when Make It in Ny unleashed a huge rally to snatch victory by a nose in the final strides of his one-mile race.
Well off the pace in the early stages, Make It in Ny began his rally just before entering the stretch, then kicked in high gear along the rail in the last sixteenth of a mile to nose out Doublepour for the win.
Make It in Ny, owned by D. J. Stable LLC, is the 11th winner for his sire. He was bred by Southern Equine Stables LLC and is out of Peinture Ancienne, who is a half-sister to European Horse of the Year and Arc de Triomphe (G1) winner Peintre Celebre.
Laoban is the sire of 2-year-old graded stakes winners Simply Ravishing and Keepmeinmind. After beginning his stud career in New York, he has relocated to WinStar for 2021, where he will stand for $25,000 S&N.
