Big League a “Star” in Del Mar maiden special weight unveiling

Speightstown got career number 10 TDN Rising Star on Saturday when Big League powered to a 3 1/4-length victory in a 5 1/2-furlong maiden special weight contest at Del Mar.

Popping out of the gate with good energy, Big League battled with Honor and Courage through the first three furlongs before assuming command outside the quarter pole. Under a very confident Noberto Arroyo, Jr., Big League pulled away from the field completely on his own to stop the clock in 1:03.48 (VIDEO).

Big League’s dam Reunited won two stakes, including the Thoroughbred Club of America (G3) at Keeneland and has five foals, all winners.

Big League is trained by Peter Miller for Rockingham Ranch.

A top-10 sire each of the past six years, Speightstown recently passed the $70 million lifetime progeny earnings mark when Passion For Action took the Highlander S. (G2).
