Bellamy Road colts shine at OBS sale

The first day of the 2014 OBS Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in training saw a Bellamy Road colt sell for $340,000, the second-highest price of the opening session of the April 21-24 sale.

David M. Clark was the high bidder for hip No. 280, a bay colt out of Long Drive Home, and a half brother to stakes winner Out for a Spin. Consigned by Bo Hunt, Agent, the Kentucky-bred juvenile breezed an eighth in :10 1/5 at Tuesday’s under tack session.

“I’ve always wanted to buy a Bellamy Road…they’re runners,” said Hunt, who pinhooked the colt after purchasing him for $35,000 out of the 2013 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October yearling sale.

Bellamy Road’s other top offering was hip No. 143, a colt consigned by Casse Sales LLC and purchased by Sallusto and Albina, agent for $175,000. The colt, named Gunlock, breezed a time identical to hip 280. Bred in Florida, the juvenile hails from the same family as Grade 2 winner Wesley  and Grade 3 San Ysabel winner Hollywood Picture.
