Bellamy Jones best in $87k Hoosier S.

Bellamy Jones locked up his second career stakes win at Hoosier Park with a handy 3 3/4-length score in the $87,850 Hoosier Breeders’ Sophomore S. Oct. 1 at the Anderson, Indiana track. The 3-year-old son of Bellamy Road won the $87,650 Indiana Futurity by 11 1/2-lengths a year ago.

Bellamy Road is a top-five second crop sire, with over $2.2 million in progeny earnings. His six stakes winners of 2011 ranks third among all sophomore sires.

On the gas from the outset of the 1 1/16 mile Hoosier Sophomore, Bellamy Jones went up a length and a half almost immediately. He controlled things from that point on, with none of his foes ever getting closer than two lengths. He pulled away late to complete the course in 1:45.60.

Bellamy Jones was bred by a partnership that includes his owner Mast Thoroughbreds LLC and his trainer Robert Gorham. With the victory, he has now earned $200,248 from a mark of 4-4-0 in 10 starts.
