Constitution’s 3-year-old colt Americanrevolution turned in her second straight dazzling stakes performance in Friday’s $250,000 Albany S. at Saratoga, drawing off in the final furlong to win by five lengths.
Owned by CHC Inc. and WinStar Farm LLC, the chestnut colt was coming into the Albany off a seven-length score in the New York Derby. Bet down to the odds-on favorite, Americanrevolution rewarded his connection with another sharp score. He let Bobby Bo set a moderate paced, then pounced on the early leader to take over in upper stretch. Bobby Bo offered brief resistance, then gave way in deep stretch as the winner was clearly in command.
The final time for the 1 1/8-miles was 1:49.94 on fast main track, good for a career-best Beyer Speed Figure of 98.
“I thought we’d be a little closer to the pacesetter, but got a little traffic, a little dirt going around the first turn,” winning trainer Todd Pletcher said. “But he came away in good position turning up the backside and continued to improve his spot, seemed like he was always traveling well.”
Americanrevolution has now won three of four starts and earned $271,535.
The winner was bred in Kentucky by Fred Hertrich III & John Fielding, and sold to his owners for $275,000 at the 2019 Fasig-Tipton New York Preferred Yearling sale.
Constitution is a top-three Third-Crop sire of 2021 by every measurable statistic, and leads the list by by both stakes horses, with 24, and graded stakes horses, with 11.
