Always Dreaming’s Saudi Crown primed for Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1)

Leading Second-Crop sire Always Dreaming will have his first Breeders’ Cup starter Saturday at Santa Anita Park with Saudi Crown in the $6 million Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1).

The 3-year-old colt has climbed to the top of his class with a trio of top-class efforts over the past few months. After losing both the Dwyer S. (G3) and Jim Dandy S. (G2) both by just a nose, he turned the tables on the competition with a hard-fought victory in the Pennsylvania Derby (G1), his most recent start.

In each race, the gray/roan earned at least a Beyer Speed Figure of 105, the only Classic entrant in the 13-horse field to accomplish that feat.

Saudi Crown is trained by Brad Cox for FMQ Stables. He was bred by CHC Inc and sold for $240,000 at the 2022 OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in training.

The Classic is race 9 on Saturday, with a post time of 6:40 pm ET. It can be seen on NBC-TV and streaming services.
