Thursday’s session of OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training saw two more colts from the first crop of Always Dreaming bring in excess of $200,000, giving the WinStar stallion a total of six lots to bring at least six figures through the first three days of the auction.
Hip No. 835, consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, was the top seller of the day for his sire, bringing a winning bid of $240,000 from Pedro Lanz on behalf of Faisal Mohammed Alqahtani.
The gray/roan colt, who had worked a furlong in 10 seconds flat, is out of the unraced Tapit mare New Narration. The colt’s second and third dams are both graded stakes winners, and her fourth dam is the granddam of Breeders’ Futurity (G1) winner Noble’s Promise.
Earlier in the session, hip No. 664, consigned by S B M Training and Sales, Agent, went for $220,000 to Shepherd Equine Advisors for Larry Hirsch, who teamed up to buy Always Dreaming’s $245,000 colt on Wednesday. S B M purchased the bay juvenile for $65,000 at last year’s Keeneland September sale.
Out of the Tiznow mare Letchworth is a half-brother to the highly-regarded 3-year-old We the People. Their second dam is Grade 1 winner Harmony Lodge.
The OBS sale wraps up on Friday, with three more offerings from Always Dreaming scheduled to go through the ring.
