Take Charge Indy now has 11 stakes horses in 2021 after A G Indy made her way between horses at the top of the Del Mar turf stretch to win the $200,000 Ken Maddy S. Friday.
The 5-year-old hadn’t made a stakes start in nearly two years, but rewarded her connections with a sparkling effort in the five-furlong sprint. She found a good spot along the rail just behind the leaders on the backstretch and looked to be boxed in as the field rounded the turn. When a narrow opening appeared at the top of the stretch, A G Indy shot through to take command, then held off Time Limit to win by a neck in :56.71 on the firm turf.
A G Indy is currently owned by R3 Racing LLC and is now 4-4-2 in 13 starts and has earned $267,422. Bred by E. H. Beau Lane, A G Indy is from the family of millionaire Rubiano.
Take Charge Indy returned to WinStar for the 2020 breeding season and has covered 224 mares over the past two years. He will stand 2022 for $12,500 S&N.
