Just days after siring the top-priced colt at Fasig-Tipton July, Bellamy Road sired his 16th career stakes winner, when Rivertown Belle wired the field in the $150,000 Indiana First Lady Stakes on July 17.
Rivertown Belle was winning her second consecutive start and first in an added-money event in the 8 1/2-furlong stakes at Indiana Downs. Facing 10 other sophomore fillies, the dark bay took the lead in the opening quarter and never looked back, increasing her advantage at every point of call, and hitting the wire 2 3/4 lengths clear of the runner-up.
Rivertown Belle boosted her two-season record to 8-3-2-0 and $148,554 for owner Mast Thoroughbreds and trainer Robert Gorham. Bred by Deann Baer and Greg Baer DVM, Rivertown Belle is out of the Seeking the Gold mare Sweet Magic, a half-sister to Hall of Fame Champion Holy Bull.
Bellamy Road has now sired 22 stakes horses from his first three crops. Only two stallions in his siring crop have sired more stakes winners. Bellamy Road stood the 2013 season for $20,000 live foal.
