Spring at Last tops KY freshman sire list

With 2012 drawing to a close, WinStar Farm’s young stallion Spring at Last has had a stellar year with his first crop of runners, led by the trio of graded stakes winners of Spring in the Air (G1 Alcibiades S.), Seaneen Girl (G2 Golden Rod S., and Spring Venture (G2 Natalma S. and G3 Mazarine S.).

As of Dec. 29, Spring at Last leads all Kentucky freshman sires progeny earnings, with $1,179,565, number of stakes horses (6), stakes winners (4), and graded stakes winners (3). He is also the only first-year stallion to have sired graded stakes winners on all three racing surfaces.

Spring at Last’s latest winner, his 13th, came Dec. 27 at Turf Paradise, when Last Equity was an easy 2 3/4-length winner going 6 1/2-furlongs. The dark bay California-bred is owned by Edward Freeman and Dennis Miller and was bred by Jennifer Wilson from the Political Ambition mare No Equity.

Spring at Last will stand the 2013 season at WinStar for $15,000 LFS&N.
