Sum of the Parts led every step of the way to take the rich $400,000 Red Legend S. (VIDEO) at West Virginia’s Charles Town Races on June 30, the second straight black-type win for the 3-year-old son of Speightstown.

Sum of the Parts needed just a couple of jumps to get to the front in the Red Legend. After a half-mile in a lively :45.64, he had a one length lead with post time favorite Il Villano bearing down. With something still left in reserve, Sum of the Parts let out once again, drawing off in the stretch to win by 3 3/4-lengths in 1:23.98.
“Tom (trainer Amoss) has been training him on a six-furlong training track, so he was prepped for the turns and the dirt,” said winning reinsman Leandro Goncalves. “The only thing I was concerned about was the seven-eighths but I knew Tom would have him no less than 110 percent.”
Trained by Amoss for Klaravich Stables and William Lawrence, Sum of the Parts has now won 4 of 8 starts, including a victory in the $99,000 Tom Ridge S. six weeks ago at Presque Isle Downs.
