Sososubtle’s 4 1/4-length maiden special weight win Jan. 20 at Gulfstream Park was the third winner in four days for Speightster. With a total of five for the year, Speightster is tied with fellow WinStar stallion Laoban atop the Second-Crop Sire list by both wins and winners.
After tracking in third for the better part of five furlongs, Sososubtle looked full of run as he emerged with the lead outside of the quarter pole. He assumed command and drew off in the stretch for an impressive tally.
Sososubtle is owned by his breeders David and Teresa Palmer. The chestnut’s dam Subtle Livie has produced six winners from as many starters. Sososubtle’s third dam is 1987 Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) winner Very Subtle.
Speightster had another busy season in 2020, covering a reported 152 mares. He is standing this year for $10,000 S&N.
