Undefeated Never Surprised leads the way to win the Central Park S.

Constitution’s 2-year-old colt Never Surprised broke on top and never looked back in his 1 3/4-length victory in Saturday’s $100,000 Central Park S. on the Aqueduct turf course.

The Repole Stable runner is the eighth stakes winner this year for his sire, who leads the Second-Crop sire list with progeny earnings topping $6.7 million and four Grade 1 winners in 2020.

Never Surprised, broke on top from post 8 and avoided trouble that caused Counterfeitcurrency, in post 3, to lose his rider. Never Surprised would go out to a two length lead after a half-mile in :49.37 and six furlongs in 1:13.59. He had plenty left for the stretch run and easily held of Hard Love for the win.

“I knew my horse was coming off a sprint, but he was so kind and gentle in my hands last time and was rating going three-quarters,” said jockey Kendrick Carmouche. “(Trainer) Todd Pletcher does such a great job, so all I had to do today was put him in the right spot and slow him down a little on the backside. This horse is a class horse. He sits in your hands so nicely.”

Never Surprised won his six-furlong debut on Nov. 8 and has now picked up $99,000 in his two wins.

Bred by Golden Pedigree LLC, Never Surprised is the first foal out of the Tiznow mare Tiz Dixie and is from the same family as the four-time graded stakes-winning millionaire Limehouse.
