After two solid showings in off-the-turf races, Traffic Lane made her first start on the grass a winning one Sunday at Aqueduct.
The 2-year-old daughter of Outwork tussled with Candace O for the entire 1 1/16-mile trip. Candace O was the pacesetter and had the lead most of the way, but Traffic Lane wore her down in the final stages to win by three-quarters of a length.
The winner is owned by Repole Stable and was bred by Oak Lodge Bloodstock. Traffic Lane is the second foal out of Irish-bred Katie Lane, who is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Tap Day.
Traffic Lane is Outwork’s third winner in the past six days, and upped his overall First-Crop total to 14. He also became one of just four freshman sires to surpass the $1 million mark in progeny earnings. Outwork’s 2021 fee was recently announced at $15,000 S&N.
