Speightstown filly goes for $150K at Fasig

Speightstown’s sole offering at the Fasig-Tipton July yearling sale brought a hammer price of $150,000, three times the stallion’s stud fee, from high bidder Steve Young, agent.

The chestnut Kentucky-bred filly, hip No. 167, is the second foal out of Acadiana, who is a direct descendent of Broodmare of the Year Courtly Dee, the dam of an incredible eight graded stakes winners, including the champion filly Althea, winner of the Arkansas Derby (G1).

Speightstown was the nation’s second ranked third crop sire in 2010 and is the top ten 2-year-old sires of 2011.
