Top-five First-Crop sire Outwork will have his first Breeders’ Cup starter Friday at Keeneland when the stakes-winning colt Outadore goes postward in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1).
The gray/roan colt drew post eight in the 14-horse field and will be ridden by Jose Ortiz for trainer Wesley Ward.
Outadore is undefeated in two starts after breaking his maiden in his July 26 debut on the Saratoga grass, then followed that up with a sharp score in the $500,000 Juvenile Turf Sprint at Kentucky Downs. Friday’s race will be Outadore’s first two-turn start.
Outadore sold for $290,000 at the 2019 Keeneland September Yearling sale. He was bred by Deann and Greg Baer and is owned by Breeze Easy LLC.
Outwork is currently #3 on the First-Crop sire list by progeny earnings and is tied for the top spot by stakes winners. After breeding 160 mares this year, he will stand the 2021 season for $15,000 S&N.
