Constitution’s incredible run of Grade 1 winners in Chile continued on Nov. 1 when Breakpoint bested Alaskan Queen by 2 1/2-lengths in the Nacional Ricardo Lyon (G1) on the Hippodrome Chile turf course.
Both Breakpoint and Alaskan Queen collected their first Grade 1 wins in early October, and were the class of Sunday’s race once again. The winner, who was always close to the front, assumed command in upper stretch and held off the late charge of Alaskan Queen to complete the 2,000 meters on a firm turf in 1:59.55.
Both 3-year-olds were bred by Haras Don Alberto, with Breakpoint, who is now undefeated in three starts, owned by Stud R T. Breakpoint is out of Safawi (CHI), who was a four-time graded winner in her homeland.
Constitution, currently first on the Second-Crop sire list, has 17 black type horses and more than $5.6 million in progeny earnings to date this year. He’ll stand the 2021 season at WinStar Farm for $85,000 S&N.
